Integrated Studio Arts, BFA (Portfolio Required)

Purdue University in West Lafayette

Integrated Studio Arts allows students to craft individualized plans of study to build a major in the fine arts intended to provide a solid foundation in arts, history, and concepts with a student-selected focus in 2D media, craft and material studies, art, technology & culture, or interdisciplinary studio arts.

The integrated studio arts major prepares students for careers with professional practice components that provide opportunities for students to exhibit their own work and to curate, organize, and install exhibitions in Purdue’s Patti and Rusty Rueff Galleries. Students graduate with a BFA.

Important Note About Portfolio Requirement: A portfolio of work demonstrating the applicant's interest in studio arts is required at the time of application. Applicants are asked to upload 10-15 images of artwork in any media when completing the online application. Portfolios should include applicants' best and most recent work and may also include sketchbook images and digital projects. For digital video submissions, please include a video still image and a link to the video online (e.g. on Youtube or vimeo). Additional details, such as information about medium, dimensions or brief discussion of the idea behind the work, may be included.

Students who are interested in studio arts, but do not have a portfolio may apply to the Studio Arts and Technology BA program

Purdue's Common Application does not provide an upload link for the portfolio of creative work, which is required for applicants to the BFA in Integrated Studio Arts. Rather, students applying to the Integrated Studio Arts, BFA (portfolio required) program will be required to submit a portfolio through their Purdue application status portal after submission of the Common App.

All liberal arts majors prepare students with the skills identified as contributing to managerial success:  communicating and listening well, possessing insights into others, creative/critical thinking, problem solving, and the ability to make connections across complex ideas.
